Our story began in 1971 in the US. Back then, we were a roaster and retailer of whole bean and ground coffee, tea and spices with a single store in Seattle’s Pike Place Market. Today we are privileged to welcome millions of customers through our doors every day, in more than 50 countries. Our first regional store in EMEA was opened in the United Kingdom in 1998. In 2002, we opened the doors of our coffee roasting plant in Amsterdam, which is the first roasting plant outside the US and the heart and soul of Starbucks in Europe, Middle East & Africa. The opening of the Amsterdam roasting plant was rapidly followed by the establishment of the EMEA Regional Support Center (RSC) in 2003. From this office we provide various levels of support such as: Marketing, Legal, Logistics and Human Resources to our partners and markets in the EMEA region.
